We thought we would tackle some common misconceptions associated with purchasing and installing a stairlift.  This should help potential and existing buyers gain a clearer understanding of the benefits of purchasing a stairlift.

Purchasing a Stairlift Common Misconceptions

  1. Stairlift Costs – Is Purchasing A Stairlift Expensive?

A large majority of people assume that buying a stairlift comes with a hefty price tag. You’d actually be surprised to hear that unlike many other costs including bills, stairlifts were actually more expensive five or ten years ago than they are today.

  1. Stairlifts Are Expensive to Maintain

This is a common misconception and actually couldn’t be further from the truth.  Thanks to advanced technology and new power saving devices, most stairlifts are more economical to run than many household appliances.  In fact, the majority of modern stairlifts will use between 10p and 20p over the course of a day to trickle charge the rechargeable battery it is fitted with.

  1. Stairlifts Can Cause Damage to Walls

A very common misconception is that a stairlift device is fitted to your wall, however, this is not the case.  In the majority of cases, stairlifts will be fixed to the treads on your staircase.  This means that the weight of both the stairlift and the person using it are supported across the whole staircase, rather than one place on your wall.

  1. Stairlifts Do Not Work During Power-Cuts

Things are quite different today than they were when stairlifts were only powered by mains electricity.  The majority of modern stairlifts use rechargeable batteries which are normally hidden within the stairlift carriage.  This means that if the stairlift ever lost the supply of mains electricity the rechargeable batteries will automatically kick in and your stairlift will continue to operate as normal.

We hope this has helped to alleviate any concerns regarding the common misconceptions associated with purchasing a stairlift.  If you’re interested in more information on how you could benefit from installing a stairlift in your home then contact us today for a free survey and quotation.
